AUSIT | Monash University | Legal Interpreting PD Short Course | 25 November 2016

Applications are now open for Monash University’s Legal Interpreting professional development short course, commencing on Friday 25 November.

The short course examines the principles and practices associated with interpreting in legal settings. Topics covered include an overview of the Australian legal system, police interpreting, court interpreting, tribunals, and family violence interpreting. The face-to-face sessions are composed of presentations from experts in the legal field and experienced interpreters, and practical interpreting exercises to establish best practice when working in this field.

Dates and times: Friday 25 November, 9am-5pm, and Friday 2 December, 9am-5pm Participants are required to attend both sessions.
Venue: Monash University Law Chambers, 555 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
Duration: 21 hours, comprised of 15 hours of face-to-face sessions and 6 hours of self-study activities.

 

PD points towards revalidation: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn 60 PD points towards revalidation (Section 3.5 of NAATI Revalidation logbook).

Intended audience: The course is aimed at practising interpreters who are already working in the industry. It is open to interpreters of all languages.

Cost: $480 (GST included). AUSIT and ASLIA members receive a 10% discount: $432 (GST included).
